• Blow Molding
• Extrusion
Glycon offers a complete selection of new barrels as well as the capability to re-sleeve barrels to compliment our line of feed screws. We offer tool steel or bimetallic barrel liners to provide resistance to the abrasive and corrosive properties of today’s resins.
Glycon has pioneered the concept of one stop shopping for our customers by offering the widest variety of barrels from the leading barrel manufacturers in the world.
The manufacturing process begins with a solid bar of steel, continues through a centrifugal casting process and ends with a precision machined bi-metallic barrel. Our barrels exceed ALL industry standards for barrel straightness. Your machine will run smoother and longer without premature wear due to metal to metal (screw to barrel) adhesive wear.
From extrusion to injection, upsizing to downsizing, 30mm to 500mm ID’s, single barrel to twin barrels, abrasion to corrosion resistant barrels, feed sections, vent hardware, bimetallic liners and more.
The centrifugal casting process entails heating of (2) different metals in a high temperature furnace. The metals are heated to temperatures above 2000°F. When the alloy is melted, the capped cylinder is placed onto casting rollers and spun at high rates of rotation which disperses the melted alloy uniformly in thickness, hardness and density.
After cooling the caps are removed and the cylinder bore is honed to the finish I.D. specifications. The inlay or outside layer of the bi-metal liner normally finishes to .050 – .060 thickness.
